 Susan Saylor is Special Projects Counsel for the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), the largest state civil rights agency in the nation. The Department’s Legal Division prosecutes cases of employment and housing discrimination throughout the state. Previously, Susan served as a civil rights prosecutor for the Department for ten years, including DFEH v. 101 California St. (Carper), a parking accommodation case that resulted in a $1 million settlement after a jury trial. Prior to the DFEH, she worked as a Legal Aid attorney in Oakland and Los Angeles, where she developed an expertise in fair housing, and affordable housing development, and eviction defense. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Real Property Law Section of the California State Bar, and contributes to real property journals and practice guides.
